Medical emergency professionals will probably have their own chamber. This is assumed in the proposal of the amendment to the act on healthcare providers, which has been submitted to the commentary proceeding by the Ministry of Health. According to the Ministry, the practice has shown that new adjustment for emergency professionals is necessary in order to fulfil the obligation of continuing education and its evaluation, as well as due to the diversity and complexity of actual performance of the profession.
Former head of medical trade unionists and current President of Slovak Medical Chamber, Marian Kollár, has been for several weeks trying to meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico. Together with other representatives of doctors he wants to discuss with him the plans of keeping the only one state health insurance company and propose also other possibilities how the change the insurance system. Office of Government, however, keeps in referring him to the Minister of Health Zuzana Zvolenská. According to the spokeswoman of the Office of Government, Beatrice Hudáková, the reason is that this is a special issue, which should be solved in cooperation with related department, in this case with Ministry of Health.
Chambers of healthcare professionals call for adoption of legislation changes, which would strengthen their competencies. They would welcome the compulsory membership or greater participation in matters related to the exercise of their profession. According to the Vice President of Slovak Pharmaceutical Chamber, Ondrej Sukeľ, for each healthcare profession there should be the concrete professional legislation defined. He notes that the current law does not respect the differences of particular professions and does not bring any competences for Chambers, only the responsibilities.
