Health insurance company Union, which has reached the highest profit among all health insurance companies last year, will increase payments to hospitals from April only to cover increased salaries of doctors. Salaries of nurses will remain uncovered. Moreover, hospitals may expect higher payments only in case, if the system will be additionally financed either by increasing of payments from state for the economically inactive policyholders or by the releasing of € 50 million reserve for health care from the state budget.
Association of Hospitals in Slovakia has adopted the proposals of Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa (General Health Insurance Company) and health insurance company Union for the adjustment of contracts from the beginning of April this year. Association has recommended its members to sign the amendments to the contracts with the state insurance company if the submitted proposal will be in the intentions of agreed adjustments. In case of insurance company Union, members should sign the amendments, if the offered increasing of prices will be reflected in the increased amount. Adjustments of contracts should help hospitals to cover the increasing of salaries of healthcare professionals set by the law.
Association of Hospitals in Slovakia, which associates dozens of regional hospitals, for now did not make an agreement with private health insurance company Union on the adjustment of pricing conditions from April. Insurance company Union submitted the offer, which Association refused as inconvenient. Reportedly it does not consider the increased costs on the adjustment of salaries of doctors, neither the adjustment of salaries of nurses.
Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa – VšZP (General Health Insurance Company) offered Association of Hospitals in Slovakia another increasing of payments. These payments should increase in the beginning of April this year and should help hospitals to cover the increasing of wages of nurses. Association should announce the final statement to the proposal until Thursday. General Health Insurance Company already increased the payments for hospitals in December last year and in February this year.
Health Committee of the Slovak Medical Chamber is not satisfied with the negotiated conditions with health insurance company Dôvera. Results from the statement of the Committee are: increasing of prices is minimal and in any case does not ensure the increasing of sources by the most of healthcare providers in non-state outpatient sphere, necessary for implementation of the act on minimum wage claims of nurses, by the full-time employing of nurses.
Health insurance company Dôvera has made an agreement with representatives of providers on the contract and price terms from April 1st this year. Agreement applies on Zdravita, Slovak Medical Chamber, Slovak Chamber of Dentists, Association of Hospital in Slovakia and others. According to the largest private health insurance company on the market this is a prerequisite for its contractual relationship with doctors, hospitals and other providers to continue smoothly even after March 31st, when the current contracts will end.
Association of Hospitals in Slovakia have made an agreement on the new contracts with health insurance company Dôvera. Their specific form will be developed on further negotiations between insurance company and particular hospitals. Members of Association will also comment on the proposal of the insurance company Union. Proposed increasing of payments, according to the Association, however, covers only the increasing of salaries of doctors from January 1st. Association will again negotiate with Dôvera on resources for higher salaries of nurses and second phase of increasing of salaries of doctors.
Last year, Union health insurance company reached the prescribed insurance in amount of € 241.4 million and a profit € 9 million. Equity of insurance company by the end of 2011 amounted to € 22.7 million. Union health insurance company has this year 408 000 policyholders. It is a subsidiary of international financial group Achmea B.V. established in Netherlands, which is also the largest insurance company in Netherlands.
Association of Hospitals of Slovakia, which associates dozens of regional hospitals, have made an agreement with private health insurance company Dôvera on the adjustment of pricing conditions from April this year. It will therefore recommend its members on individual negotiations to sign the amendments to the contracts. Agreed adjustment considers the ensuring of financial covering of first phase of increasing of salaries of doctors from January this year.
Robot-assisted operations with the help of Da Vinci technology in hospital in Banská Bystrica are partly covered by the state-owned Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa (General Health Insurance Company). Hospital, however, entered into the negotiation also with the private health insurance company Dôvera. Dôvera did not want to specify the interim results of negotiations, daily SME reports. Costs on robot-assisted radical prostatectomy are around € 4 300, while the patient pays € 300 of this amount.
