Departments of hospital in Vranov nad Topľou are beginning to use the Vacuum Assisted Closure Therapy, which should ensure patients the faster healing of wounds. This method is brand new and was used last week by the treatment of the first patient. This therapy has been recently often used as an active therapy by effective healing of acute, trauma or chronic wounds. Whole system is based on the controlled and localized pressure, which is exerted directly on the wound and accelerates the creation of new tissue.
Ministry of Interior wants to equipe the St. Michal Hospital in Bratislava with the new technology worth € 3.25 million. This results from the preliminary statement published in the Journal of the procurement. Complex delivery of medical technology and equipment for the hospital needs should contain for example the equipment for operation room, operation table for urology and gyneacology, instruments for neurology or infusion stands.
Number of beds in institutional health care has been decreasing. At the same time the average treating time and number of days that patient stays in hospital have been decreasing. This information was provided by Peter Bubla from National Health Information Centre. While in 2009 the total number of beds was more than 35 520, in 2010 it was 35 132 and last year only 32 954 beds. Within three years the number of beds thus decreased by 2 566 beds.
Ministry of Health is working on further reduction of beds and departments in the frame of decreasing of debts of faculty hospitals. Compared with last year this optimizing should be carried out gradually and only in big cities. Cancelling of beds and departments is related to presented plans of the Ministry to centralize the performances. In practice this means that hospitals will be specialized on certain procedures so they would not be provided in other hospitals at once.
Consequences of the failure to pay insurance are becoming more serious for policyholders. Last year the penalties for late payments were tightened by the law. Now, moreover, Dôvera came with the mechanism, which will ensure that bad payers will not get their planned interventions. Dôvera thanks to the online reporting system of hospitalisations – HospiCOM, knows about the planned hospitalisation in advance, so Dôvera can warn the hospital about the non-payer and thus the health care will not be covered.
General hospital and polyclinic Levoča, member of Agel group, has introduced a new navigation system in its area. Patients as well as visitors of the healthcare institution can thus find particular workstations a little easier than until now. New navigation of the hospitals has after several decades replaced the original signs in this healthcare institution.
Hospital in Zvolen, member of group Agel, in these days started the complete modernization of laboratories. The result of the reconstruction will be a common haematological and biochemical laboratory. Costs are estimated to amount of € 150 000. The aim of reconstruction is to build a modern operation and to increase overall efficiency by merging of two laboratories. Such modernized laboratory will in future enable to handle more than double of samples compared to current situation.
Similarly to nurses also doctors might lose their higher salaries. Association of Hospitals in Slovakia is considering the submission to General Attorney for investigation of the constitutionality of the act on wages of doctors. Association claims that acts on salaries of doctors and nurses are favouring only certain groups of employees. Doctors do not understand the activities of the Association and threatened that they will publicize “the reality” of private healthcare institutions.
According to several experts the planned restoration of terminal network of hospitals from the side of Minister of Health, Zuzana Zvolenská, will bring the bigger space for corruption and poor quality of provided health care. Former Minister Ivan Uhliarik considers the plans of current management of the Ministry as the return to socialism and warns against the corruption. According to him the Antimonopoly Office has already detected that hospitals from the list abused their market position.
Children's Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic in Banská Bystrica will not use the current stoppage of the force of act on minimum wage claims of nurses and will not change the wages of its nurses. This year's increasing of wages is integrated into the contracts of employees and thus they would have to agree with that. Statutory increasing of wages of healthcare professionals has led to the indebtedness of this hospital.
